Imeh’s Book List

These are the books Ive read in the month of May, 2025!

I’ve actually read the entirety of the Mead Mishaps series. Honestly; top 10 fantasy trilogy. The natural humor and blackness Kimberly is able to infuse the storyteller with while still thriving in a romantasy framework is stellar. Genuinely funny, genuinely HOT. dear God. My only critique is the swirl agenda is a lil too strong for me. Like is Kenya Barris holding the writers room hostage? I loved the first book because of an interracial relationship that don’t include white people. The next too book consist of characters that Kim tries to sexily describe as being the color of “fresh corn on the cob” I literally laughed out loud. Kim, homegirl, stick writing for the POCs. LOL

Allison Yarrow meticulously dissects the media landscape of the 90’s through a feminist lenses. Her analysis on Hillary Clinton and Monica Lewinsky’s tumultuous journey through the gauntlet of public opinion really gave what it needed to give. 10/10 white feminist research. I will be referencing this book in my future critique and essays.

My first Eve Babitz book. Honestly, boring. I don’t know what else to say about that. I can see why she has an audience. And if I am being truly reflective, reading this book in the same week put down both of my childhood pets was a probably not the way to go. It was not raw enough to make up for the corny in my opinion.
